230 Ukrainian Immigrants Arrive in Israel for Passover, Part of Effort to Rescue Embattled Jews

JERUSALEM, More than 200 new immigrants (“olim”) from Ukraine landed at Tel Aviv’s Ben-Gurion Airport on a flight organized by the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews (The Fellowship), allowing many of the olim to celebrate the Jewish Festival of Freedom of Passover in Israel for the first time. The Freedom Flight is part of The Fellowship’s ongoing rescue of embattled Jews around the world. World Jewish Congress welcomes Swiss lawmakers' push to protect religious communities, end government funding of BDS

NEW YORK - World Jewish Congress President Ronald S. Lauder on Friday praised Switzerland's National Council, the lower house of parliament, for its vote to stop government funding of any organization that supports racism, anti-Semitism, or boycotts of Israel. Lauder also welcomed the unanimous decision by the Council of States, the upper house of the Swiss legislature, calling on the government to ensure that all religious communities receive adequate protection against potential terrorist threats. WJC laments shocking rise in number of anti-Semitic incidents registered in UK

The Community Security Trust (CST) of the British Jewish community recorded a stark rise in the number of anti-Semitic incidents in 2016.WJC, The CST, a charity that has monitored anti-Semitism and provided security for the UK Jewish community since 1984, said that 1,309 anti-Jewish incidents were recorded nationwide during 2016, up 36 percent from the 960 incidents recorded the previous year. Lauder calls German court's rejection of ban of neo-Nazi party 'disconcerting'Jewish leaders expressed disappointment Tuesday at the ruling of Germany's supreme court which rejected a ban of the extreme-right National Democratic Party (NPD). In its verdict, the Federal Constitutional Court in Karlsruhe found no legal grounds to ban the NPD, arguing that it lacked sufficient power to overthrow its anti-democratic aims.
